The present drawing is connected to, and can be considered a preparatory study for the left side of the sheet by Carlo Maratta in the Devonshire Collection at Chatsworth (inv. no. 595).
The entire composition has been engraved by Andrea Procaccini (1671-1734) in (C. Le Blanc, Manuel de l'Amateur d'estampes. Paris, 1854-1888, III, p. 256, no. 12). No final composition has been yet found by Maratta.
